Mexico Ports Analysis: Comparing imports, exports, domestic trade and types of cargo transported through Mexico’s 10 busiest freight ports.

Lazaro Cardenas is the busiest of all Mexico ports, transporting 30,781,903 tons of cargo in 2013, 80% of this cargo travelled internationally, 67% of the cargo transported was minerals and 27% was containerised cargo.

Mananzillo is the busiest port for containerised cargo, transporting 16,441,076 tons of containerised cargo in 2013, 92% of the cargo handled at Manzanilo (in 2013) was transported internationally (52% Imports & 48% exports).

Guerroero Negro is the 7th busiest port in Mexico with 7,573,513 tons of cargo transported (in 2013), 100% of this cargo was minerals (predominatly salt from nearby mines) and 100% was transported domestically into Mexico Ports.
