Delivering Solutions

Tuscor Lloyds have been working with companies in the oil and gas industry for over 20 years. So when a recent request for the projects team to manage a shipment of subsea oil well equipment from Malta to the UK arose, we immediately committed to the job.

The Subsea equipment was transported using 4 x 40’ Flat Rack containers and 2 x 20’ Open Top Containers. With most of the shipment classified as out of gauge, the projects team relied on our vast personal experience and trusted network of knowledgeable agents to source the best materials for the job.

Due to the last minute nature of the booking and urgency in delivering the cargo to UK, the shipment was split to ensure space on board and equipment available at such short notice. The projects team sourced space on 2 separate liners, negotiating the best pricing and correlating sailings to the UK, with one arriving in Felixstowe and the other in Southampton. Splitting the shipment achieved the short delivery window with the cargo arriving at the same time and with the necessary specialist equipment ready to handle the cargo at the two ports of discharge. This included Low loader trucks used to transport the cargo for final delivery to Aberdeen from the ports.

Tuscor Lloyds projects team secured the job due to a number of factors. The way in which we work with local agents ensured fast pricing and precise quotations sent to the client. The local agent called upon for this particular shipment had fantastic local knowledge and influence in ensuring smooth operations and sourcing special equipment locally to best handle the cargo.

Martyn Blackburn, UK Project Operations Team, stated that “the shipment was quite last minute and the cargo urgently needed to be mobilised and shipped back to UK. Thanks to our extensive experience and knowledge in Project Shipping and the influence and efficiency of our local representation the job was a success and all parties were happy.”
