Cased Aircraft Simulator

Project shipment of 26 cases weighing 33 tons in total, transported by road and sea from Farnborough, UK to Sydney, Australia.

Tuscor Lloyds has just completed this project shipment of a Saab Aircraft Simulator (in 26 wooden cases) from the UK to Australia. The shipment was transported as out of gauge cargo due to the large dimensions of some of the cases, the three largest cases had dimensions of: 4.4 x 3.7 x 3.2 meters, 4.4 x 2.9 x 3.2 meters and 5.9 x 3.2 x 2.6 meters.

The out of gauge cases were picked up from Farnborough and transported by road (with the assistance of a police escort) using one flat bed and three low loader trailers to Tuscor Lloyds’ loading and lashing experts on site at the port of Southampton.

The oversized cargoes were then loaded onto three 40ft flat rack containers, and one 40ft high cube container, which they were then secured to using wooden chocks and heavy duty ratchet straps to ensure the heavy pieces were completely fixed to the containers.

Once the cases were secured to the containers they were shunted to quay using mafi trailers and checked before being loaded on to the vessel which would carry them to Sydney Port. The shipment took 40 days from loading in Southampton to unloading in Sydney, Australia and made the journey on time and damage free.
